During our planning chat, Chase’s mommy had the BEST idea for a photoshoot… hanging some of his baby clothes on an old-fashioned clothes line.
We loved the idea so much that I had my Mister help me rig up a really simple “clothes line” right in our studio; and I am so excited to show you the cute results!
I thought it might be cute to also do one that displays a selection of the baby’s clothes from their whole first year… from tiny onsies through to toddler togs.
Anyway, Chase was an utter delight to photograph! He’s so silly and charming, and those crisp blue eyes!

Anybody that’s ever come into the studio and flipped through our books here probably remembers Emily… the rolly-polliest, chubbiest, most cloud-soft baby we’ve ever met here. Almost every person that sees her photo makes a comment about how adorable and huggable she was then!
Miss Emily is now a growny girl, with a little brother to boss around!
Harrison isn’t *quite* as chubby as his sister is, but he’s every bit as sweet as pudding, and he’s got charming personality just radiating from his big smile!

These are not just regular family portraits.
They are very, very special to me, though they may not look like anything unusual to you.
Let me explain my relationship with the Smiths, and maybe my thoughts will become a little more clear.
In the summer of 2007, I photographed the wedding of one of the prettiest women I’ve ever met, Kelley. The wedding was gorgeous, and the bride was stunning, but one of the most memorable things about that wedding, to me, was the amazing families of *both* the bride and groom!
Then, almost a year later, I photographed another wedding for the Smith family… this time Lindsay, equally as gorgeous as her sister. Her beautiful wedding was also filled with amazing people, and their wonderful, gracious families made it a wedding to remember.
And then early this year, Lindsay gave me the huge honor of photographing her gorgeous newborn baby son, Reed.
So last month, when the Smiths contacted me to let me know that the Lindsay & Kelley’s daddy was once again battling cancer, and that they wanted to have some special portraits made while their beautiful family was whole, I was crushed and honored and desperate to be able to do this small thing for them.
I feel that the Smiths have entrusted some of their most precious moments in life to us, and for them to invite me into their lives again during these precious days, is one of the greatest honors I’ve ever had as a photographer.
If you pray, please send up a special prayer for Marcus Smith. He is currently in Texas, seeking out options and treatments for the cancer. I will keep you as updated as I can.

When Drew & Daniel’s mom suggested that we take the boys’ photos around their home this time, she vaguely mentioned something about the yard being a “wreck.”
So, I was pretty surprised when I pulled up to their Garden of Eden of a front lawn!
I love doing photoshoots like this… we pretty much let the boys play at their own pace, and do their own thing, on their own turf!

Last month, Phillip & I traveled to Chattanooga to photograph the amazing wedding of Francie & Mike, at the historic and breathtaking Grandview, atop Lookout Mountain.
The Grandview is a tip-toe away from the world-famous Rock City, and it was just the perfect location for laid-back, gorgeous Francie, and her wonderful Mike.
We met Francie through another one of our favorite brides ever, Courtney, and all of us here at the studio LOVE her! She is so funny and organized and creative and wonderful!

Sarah Bayly is the BABY baby of the family!
She has three very sweet and amazing big siblings who all think that she hung the moon, and a wonderful Mommy & Daddy that can’t get enough of her!

Her mommy told me that they decorated her room with nests and birds. (LOVE!)
So, it worked out super well that she looks like a cuddly little bird in her “nest” here!

Spring came fresh and lovely in 2010… and our dear sweet Lab, Ruby, found true love… at least until we rounded up the stray black lab and removed him from our yard!
But, alas, young love resulted in 9 adorable Labrador Puppies!
Now, they are as cute as puppily possible, but we cannot possible keep all 9 puppies, so in about 4 weeks, we will be looking for good homes for all nine of them!
There are:
3 black boys,
4 yellow/red boys
1 yellow/red girl
1 albino girl
