Remember my sister who lived in Tanzania earlier this year?
She’s back stateside now, and she’s found a beautiful job, doing art therapy with disabled adults!
I was beyond honored when her studio invited me up to photograph all 80 of their clients!
I have rarely been as inspired, challenged, and thrilled as I was on the day that I spent photographing these people.
I don’t know what I expected when I went in, but what I found is that these people are amazing in every way.
We danced, hugged, and laughed so much that my cheeks hurt from smiling!

In the few hours I was with them, I was amazed by what I learned about the artists.
These are some of things that I think they would want you to know about themselves…

Oh Grayson, with the bluest, most limpid eyes, and those petal pink lips…
She’s going to be a knock-out for sure!
Somebody commented earlier that she doesn’t even look real, and it’s true! She looks like a living doll!
(And acts like a doll, too… she’s precious!)
I was nothing less than gleeful at the outfits and toys that her mama brought with her for their special photoshoot!

When Kyle’s mama brought him in, with his cowboy hat, and his granddaddy’s bee hive gear, I thought that the whole studio might just collapse under his cuteness!
Such a gorgeous guy, with such a sweet personality to go along with it!!

Walker and Will are two of the cutest boys we’ve ever had in the Studio, and I can’t believe how big little Walker has gotten since the last time I saw him!

Megan and Zack are getting married this December, on what should be a magical, cool crisp day… but for their engagement session, we went for a much warmer option: 8am in the middle of Summer!
Thankfully, the weather was mild, and the light was gorgeous!

I love the bond that Bailey has with her “Pops.”
He might be a grown man, and a leader in the community; but as far as Bailey is concerned, he belongs wrapped around her tiny little chubby finger!

I met John Dixon’s mommy when she was pregnant with him… she works with the local Arts Center, and she was instrumental in helping me get my fifty piece photography exhibit hung in the Vereen Gallery this summer.
I couldn’t believe how she was getting around all over the place with that belly!
Now John Dixon is here, and he’s such a sweet, gorgeous little boy….
His mama calls his lips “smoochable” and I agree with her!!

A few weeks ago, I put a call out on the Studio’s facebook, asking for some kids in their dress-up gear… well, I did NOT have Sean & Scott in mind, but they were SO much more awesome than what I was hoping for!
These guys are so creative, so smart, SO funny, so engaging… I could actually hang out with them any day of the week!
(Not to mention, they are pretty cute, too!!)
-
-Pirate hats and vintage jackets? Yes, please!-

-OMG, I love Scott for this face!-

-

-This was the culmination of the photoshoot getting deliriously out of my control… the boys went through my props and decided to be “Shoeless Hat Salesmen”
*meep*

Kids this age are the great un-photographed gap between little kid and senior pics, but I LOVE photographing this age! If you have kids between the age of 8-14 that haven’t had portraits made in a few years… it’s time! Give me a hollar!!

When Tina told me that her hubby was into trains, I knew right where we should go for their family portraits! I love this section of track, and even in the heat of summer, it was a gorgeous morning for us!

-(Addi is also into her daddy’s collection of vintage cameras… she might even want to be a photographer herself one day!!)-
