Animals & Ancient Children (Backstage at the Theatre!)
All kids are natural models. We teach them to “Say Cheese;” but when they are plainly allowed to do whatever feels natural in front of the camera, kids make moves that would rival the poses of top super models!
On Sunday, I decided to show up backstage with my camera, one strobe, and a simple backdrop, and just give the kids a distraction when they were backstage.
My only rules were:
We have to be QUIET
&
We cannot FAKE SMILE!
Josh’s karate moves were truly awesome.
Jumping was VERY popular! (And a good way to tire the kids out before we sugared them up at the cast party!)
As far as I am concerned, these two itty bitty guys were the show’s mascots. They were always ready for a conversation or a hug or a high-five for anybody in the cast!
Sometimes, the “models” had very serious discussions on how to pose.
Oh, these are just all of my favorite humans on earth… (Phil’s cigarette is a plastic stage prop, BTW.)
All of the props were super cute, but the giraffes and horse costumes might have been my favorite animal costumes… with those masks, they looked like they could have actually been on a fashion runway!
The most important thing during any show is the friendships formed, and I saw SO many sweet relationships backstage! :)
If your kid was in this show, there’s a pretty good chance that we photographed them backstage, too! Just click on *any* of these images to see the entire gallery, and you can even purchase some images, at a *super* discounted rate off or our normal portrait pricing!
