Sweet Parker (Preview!) | Shands Hopsital Portraits | Gainesville, Florida

For those who have been following along on my personal Facebook, you already know what’s been going on in the past few days with little baby Parker.

If you aren’t aware yet; this week, one of my portrait clients contacted me, and told me all about Parker & his family. He is a 16-month-old baby boy suffering from painful, and terminal cancer.

We made the decision to contact the family, and volunteer my time to go Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, and document some of his very precious time on this earth, and to create some special portraits of him.   They agreed, and even decided to have his twin brother, Drew, come down to Shands for the first time, so the brothers got to see each other for the first time in 4 months!

His doctors have decided to end treatments. Next week, his family will take him to a hospice house near their home.

I keep trying to write the correct words to convey how very precious he is, and how wonderful it is to spend time with him and his family…

But I don’t have a big enough vocabulary, so I’m going to just share some
of my favorite moments over the next few days. Hopefully, you’ll get a sense of what it’s like to be filled with every emotion imaginable, when preparing for the end of a child’s life.
